Dr. Ashok C. Shroff started his
practice in 1961.
He has been at the forefront in the field of ophthalmology
and has been responsible for introducing many surgical
techniques and modern technology in India. He has been
the guiding force behind the hospital. In recognition
of his achievements and contributions towards modern
ophthalmology, he was honoured with the Padma Shree
in 1990.
After M.S. in Ophthalmology worked
at the Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of
Ophthalmology, London. Since then the Shroff Eye Clinic
has been associated with the latest instrumentation
and technology in the field of ophthalmology first in
the country to do modern retinal surgeries in 1962 with
the use of implants, cryosurgery for retinal detachment
and cataract [1968], fundus fluorescein angiography
[1970], Xenon arc photocoagulation, the precursor of
the argon laser [1973], microscopic cataract surgery
[1975], vitrectomy [1978], Argon laser, Krypton laser,
phacoemulsification and A scan sonography [1983]. The
Shroff Eye Clinic contributes significantly to the development
of new techniques. |

A Vitreo-retinal Surgeon, his area of expertise lies
in the management of retinal disorders such as retinal
detachments, diabetic retinal involvement (diabetic
retinopathy), age-related macular disorders [AMD], retinal
vascular disorders and vitreous surgery. His expertise
stems from training he received at the renowed Sankara
Nethralaya, Chennai. |

University, Durham, North Carolina and also trained
under Dr. Matthew A. Thomas MD, Barnes Retina Institute
, Washington University, St. Louis, USA. |

He is also attached to S L Raheja Hospital and All India
Institute of Diabetes, Mahim, Mumbai as Honorary Consultant
Ophthalmologist since November 1997. |

Dr. Anand Ashok Shroff, MS
Is a pioneer in wavefront-guided LASIK laser vision
correction. Trained in England, his area of specialization
extends to the management of cataract, glaucoma and
corneal disorders. He has been practicing as an Anterior
segment consulting surgeon since 1996 |

He runs the Glaucoma Clinic for screening for glaucoma
high-risk population, medical and surgical treatment
and follow-up including routine gonioscopy, Humphrey
visual field analysis - SITA & SWAP, optic nerve imaging
and tonometry. Perform argon laser trabeculoplasty,
laser iridotomy, diode laser trans-scleral cyclophotocoagulation,
phacotrabeculectomies, filtering surgeries with the
use of anti-metabolites & seton implants. |

He performs Cataract surgery by phacoemulsification
with foldable/multifocal IOL implantation, even under
topical anaesthesia. His experience includes high vacuum
karate chop, stop and chop, small pupil and other complicated/difficult
cases. |

He has worked as a LASIK specialist since March 1997.
He has performed refractive correction of vision using
the Wavelight Allegretto Excimer laser and the Bausch
& Lomb Technolas 217 Zyoptix wavefront guided LASIK
system. He has been the Pioneer of wavefront guided
LASIK and hyperopic/aphakic LASIK in the country and
has performed over 5000 surgeries in 6 years for moderate
to high degrees of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. |

He is proficient in YAG laser iridotomies, capsulotomy
and vitreolysis procedures. Perform argon laser photocoagulation
for surface lesions, trichiasis, pterygium and panretinal
photocoagulation. |

He also performs partial coherence interferometry [IOL
Master], A & B scan, Computerised topography, Strabismus
surgeries, lacrimal and lid surgeries. |
