1919
That is the year it all started for us, when Dr Chimanlal Nemchand Shroff returned from London and started his Ophthalmology practice in Round Building, Kalbadevi, a prominent business area of older Bombay. He also founded the Ramwadi Free Eye Hospital to serve the underprivileged. A lot happened along the way, to say the least.

Dr C N Shroff was elected Secretary of the All India Ophthalmologist's society, and served as its President in 1951.

1961
His son, Dr. Ashok C. Shroff joined the practice after his MS in Ophthalmology and his experience at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

1962
Dr. Ashok C Shroff was one of the ophthalmologists in the country to perform modern retinal surgeries with the use of implants.

1968
Dr Ashok Shroff was one of the first eye surgeons in India to perform Cryosurgery for retinal detachment and cataract.

1973
Shroff Eye expands. Dr Ashok Shroff sets up Shroff Eye Clinic in 1973, located prominently at the Marine Drive facade. He introduces a number of new techniques in eye care - Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, Xenon arc photocoagulation, the precursor of the argon laser, microscopic cataract surgery & vitrectomy.

Dr. C. N. Shroff retires after a highly productive and meaningful career spanning 62 years.

1983
Dr Ashok Shroff continues to be a pioneer in his field introducing Argon Laser, Krypton Laser, Phacoemulsification and A Scan sonography using the latest technology of the times.

1990
Dr. Ashok C. Shroff is honoured with prestigious National Award, the "Padma Shree" in recognition of his contribution to the ophthalmic profession.

1997
His sons- Dr. Rahul Shroff and Dr. Anand Shroff join the practice. Shroff Eye introduces advanced retinal speciality.

2001
Shroff Eye is one of the first eye hospitals to be awarded the ISO 9002 certification.

2003
Shroff Eye expands yet again, and opens its new hospital premises at Bandra (W), Mumbai as Shroff Eye Hospital.

2004
Shroff Eye starts its in house Advanced LASIK centre with one of the only excimer lasers in the country, to treat spectacle powers. This is headed by Dr Anand Shroff.

2006
Shroff Eye is accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA). It is the first eye hospital in India to achieve this award.

2007
Shroff Eye launches the Wavelight 500Hz Concerto, fastest and most advance technology in the world and only one in India. Shroff Eye is the first eye hospital in Mumbai to use the treatment of C3R or Corneal Collagen Cross Linking for keratoconus, a corneal abnormality.

Shroff Eye gets re- accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA).

2011
Dr Anand Shroff completes 100 Crystalens (R) accommodative implants for cataract surgery, being the second eye surgeon in India to cross this milestone.

Shroff Eye gets re- accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA, Ambulatory Care Program).

Dr Anand Shroff is awarded a Gold Medal by The Indian Intraocular Implant and Refractive society of India for his contribution to the field of Cataract and Refractive Surgery

Dr Ashok Shroff Eye is awarded the Bombay Ophthalmological Association- BOA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Shroff Eye starts ReLEx SmILE laser eye procedure, one of the few centres in the world to offer this treatment for treating spectacle powers.

Congratulations, my mother Mrs Felicia Nwaeze had a successful eye surgery in 2011 Nov. She had a cataract as hard as stone and attached to the retina, vision was 1.
