Bladeless LASIK / Femto LASIK
The Bladeless LASIK option utilizes a
PRECISE, HIGH-ENERGY femtosecond laser instead of a microkeratome to create the flap of corneal tissue. The femtosecond laser we use is the ZEISS VisuMax, which is one of the most advanced recent lasers today. America's National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) approves pilots and astronauts who have undergone Femto or Bladeless LASIK.
Since the VisuMax Femtosecond laser is able to create precise corneal flaps, some patients who were previously not a candidate for LASIK due to thin corneas, are now benefiting from the procedure.
Is Bladeless LASIK safe?
This procedure makes Laser eye surgery safer than ever by replacing the blade commonly used for corneal flap creation with a laser, a more precise process.
How does bladeless LASIK visual outcome compare with those of traditional LASIK?
- Creates fewer high-and-low-order aberrations, thought to be associated with glare and halos at night.
- Patients have a reduced incidence of post-operative dry eye symptoms.
- Patients require fewer enhancement procedures following LASIK.
- The precision of the bladeless LASIK flap significantly reduces the incidence of post-operative induced astigmatism, as compared with a traditional LASIK flap.
