Dr. C N Shroff established the Shroff Eye Hospital in 1919, on his return from London. Dr. Ashok Shroff started practice in 1962 He was one of the ophthalmologists in the country to perform modern retinal surgeries with the use of implants. Cryosurgery for retinal detachment and cataract was started by him in 1968. From 1973, introduction of a number of new techniques in eye care – Fundus Fluorescein Angiography, Xenon arc photocoagulation, the precursor of the argon laser, microscopic cataract surgery & vitrectomy were set up by him. In 1983, Argon Laser, Krypton Laser, Phacoemulsification and A Scan sonography was introduced using the latest technology of the times.  Dr. Ashok C. Shroff was honored with National Award, the “Padma Shree” in recognition of his contribution to the ophthalmic profession, in 1990.

Dr. Rahul Shroff and Dr. Anand Shroff join the practice, in 1997. Shroff Eye is awarded the ISO 9002 certification, in 2001. Shroff Eye opens its new hospital premises at Bandra (W), Mumbai as Shroff Eye Hospital, in 2003. Shroff Eye starts its in house LASIK Centre. Shroff Eye Care was accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA), in 2006.

Shroff Eye launches the Wave light 500Hz Concerto, fastest and most advance technology in the world and only one in India, in 2007. Shroff Eye is the first eye hospital in Mumbai to use the treatment of C3R or Corneal Collagen Cross Linking for keratoconus, a corneal abnormality. Shroff Eye re- accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA), in 2009. In 2010, Shroff Eye launches the Shroff Eye Bank and introduces Keratoplasty by the DSEK technique. In 2011, Dr. Anand Shroff completes 100 Crystalens (R) accommodative implants for cataract surgery, being the second eye surgeon in India to cross this milestone. In 2012, Shroff Eye was re- accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA). In 2104, Shroff Eye Hospital started ReLEx SmILE laser eye procedure. In 2015, Shroff Eye Hospital was re- accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International, USA).

My family has been visiting Dr. Anand Shroff since a very long time. We are very pleased with the professional and valuable service provided by the team of Dr. Shroff. We have always received the treatment just as family members. Staff here is very courteous in their nature. Last year, my wife underwent Computer Assisted Cataract Surgery which is latest platform available at Shroff Eye Hospital Mumbai. This technology aids the perfect installation of the new lens. Also I must say that Dr. Anand is an expert with his skills, during the surgery he kept my wife busy in talks and the surgery was completed without her realizing it. It is justified that there is a right balance of technology and patient care maintained at the Shroff Eye Hospital. The whole process, right from the consultation to the post-operative visit was very smooth.

Recently we visited for an annual eye check and as usual they never let us down. Over the years Shroff has maintained their standards at par with the world being accredited by the USA. I would like to congratulate Shroff for completing 100 years of providing excellence in eye care services. I wish good luck for their future endeavors.

The surgery of Dr. Anand was so clean and expert. You will not believe but my mother was not ready for her right eye operation after her bad experience of left eye surgery with an inexperience doctor in 2005 that took about 55 minutes and after 1 year she even loss her vision. She is a diabetic and blood pressure patient and I was scare to find the Best Doctor in India.

Many thanks for your kind reply to my message, I appreciate that. Of course you have wide experience in terms of eye treatments as a whole and research, which I used to tell people about it. For example, some of the guys that I came with for the first time in 1991, and by the way it was the first time to me coming to India where some people were about to take us to different doctor.
